Developed for people at all levels of health, weight and fitness, BEAT IT provides fun, safe and supportive exercise classes for people with or at risk of developing diabetes and other chronic lifestyle diseases.

Starting with individual assessments to tailor the program for each person’s individual needs, BEAT IT is a 16-week course bringing small groups of up to 12 people together in a supportive environment.

BEAT IT includes weekly physical activity sessions and education sessions every 3 weeks to help participants learn how to make healthy lifestyle changes and is available for anybody looking to get active in a supportive environment.

Chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease are the leading cause of disability and disease across the world[i]” and the problem will continue to grow here in Australia if we don’t work together to beat it.  That’s why we’ve has teamed up with Diabetes NSW & ACT to bring the proven BEAT IT program to Taree and the Manning region.

BEAT IT classes are fun, safe and supportive. We start off classes slowly and build up over the coming weeks as you become more confident and your health and fitness improve. We combine a combination of aerobic and resistance training exercises to get the best outcome for you. One of the benefits of being a group program is you get to meet new people just like you, allowing you to support and encourage each other along the way.

BEAT IT combined with regular physical activity can help:

  • Reduce the risk of developing diabetes and other chronic lifestyle conditions.

  • Help with diabetes and other chronic lifestyle disease management.

  • Prevent development of diabetes complications and other chronic lifestyle conditions.

  • Improve heart health, blood glucose control insulin sensitivity, blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

  • Achieve weight loss and weight management.

  • Prevent osteoporosis and improve bone mineral density.

  • Reduce the risk of falls and fall related injuries.

  • Improve mood, energy and quality of life.
